Hydrangeas....Etsy Style
What they should have looked like....last year. |
Well, because I am always obsessing considering changes in some of the rooms in my home (ok, the whole house)...I wanted to check out hydrangea art on Etsy.
This is what I am loving

Embroidery.....Frame them, or Stuff them?
I have six vintage pieces of embroidery that I picked up on Ebay many years ago. They are obviously meant to be a set of dining room chair covers. I could never understand how it was chic to sit on someone's hard work? Since I only have three patterns with repeats....I'm not sure if I should hang them....or stuff them?

Do you have a preference? Do I break up the set? I think I am leaning toward framing.
I am also giving an organizing tip at Living Savvy. Come on by and see how I like to keep my sewing supplies organized.

Etsy Elephants
Is there an elephant in your room? I must admit, I am finding myself intrigued by them. I can't decide exactly how to execute it. Here are some of the ones I am thinking about
A colorful bold print, like the one in my powder room

A white elephant (I can find out how cleaver my friends are)

On the floor, I am usually not a "pair of the same" type

This will take a while to decide, but I do love them. I think every room should have a bit of the unexpected whimsy. Do you have an animal of any kind in your room? I would love to know!
HGTV Dream Home [DIY Style]
Were you one of the many millions who watched the HGTV Dream Home 2012? I missed the actual broadcast, but thankfully it will run endlessly throughout the week. I did manage to watch some of the on-line clips. I also scoured the photo's on the HGTV site. I love the architecture.
I thought it would be fun to review the home as "potential DIY projects". Here is my take on all the ideas that could be replicated.
Starting in the great-room; I am a huge fan of ceiling treatments and this board and batten would not be too difficult
framing four large squares of fabric for a grouping
clustering square coffee tables together to make a large custom size one
adding coffee beans around candles
Line a hallway with lanterns and electric candles. I think this would look great as mis-matched ones as well
Add hooks into the bathroom design
Customize a simple framed mirror
by adding nailheads
Make a custom pet bed
Make candle holders from architectural objects
Paint an American Flag on wood. This would be great using pallet boards!
I think that is enough pinterest projects for now. Did you have a favorite? Would you ever replicate any of them?

Inspiration from the fitting room!
The other day, I went shopping at Ann Taylor Loft. While I was not having much success with the clothes, I did find some inspiration.
Not the top, or the jeans, or even the necklace.......the frame! A burlap covered frame.
A bit of fray check on the corners would help keep the line smooth. This can't be hard, I'll be adding this project to my list.
Happy Monday

I love the tactile feel of this simple profile with a rough finish.
