Karl, Is That You?

It all started with this pin. It is a Karl Springer Asian Modern Coffee Table. Something about this pin stuck with me.

I was sure I saw it on CL. I know, that would be too crazy, right? Notice the comment I made.

The pinner never responded...would you?

Meet my new coffee table

Shooting a picture of brass is tricky, but bare with me...because I think it is a real Karl Springer. The owner had it listed all wrong. In fact, it was up for a long time, and I won't tell you how I found this one...sorry. Let's just say that it wasn't under anything you would have thought it would be. I am also not going to share the price, because if it is real....it's for sale!

Here is a similar table listed on 1st dibs
1st dibs $2,850.
There is a slight difference with this table, it does not have the ribs on the top piece holding up the glass....mine does.

Here is an Asian Style table on 1st dibs that is very similar to mine. This one is rectangular.

1st dibs $4,200.
This detail is identical to mine

1st dibs $4,200.

Here is the table from the original pin. It is in London at Talisman. I inquired about this table, and here are some additional photos they sent me.

Karl Springer Table ~ $7,000 (US)
The rib detail I keep referring to.

Now, I don't want you to think the CL table is in perfect condition...it is not. There are a few of the ribs missing.

This is not difficult to mask with a creative solution. The glass is almost perfect...especially for its age.

I did a quick styled picture for you.

See my jeans?

So, is this a Karl Springer table?

Painted or Rustic?

I have been hunting for a narrow console table to go in my hallway for ages. I found the perfect one a few weeks before Sandy. It was lovely....clean straight lines, mirrored top, and really long. "Michael" (the owner) and I emailed each other and decided that Sunday, November 10th would work perfectly for both of us.

It was located in Asbury Park, NJ. In case you don't know, Asbury Park was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Once our power and internet returned, I emailed Michael to see if he was OK....and I thought that there was a slight chance the table made it through, too. I never heard from Michael. I hope this means that he is fine but the table is not?

Back on the hunt.....I ran across this one on CL. I liked it, but was not sure. So, I emailed my friend who is now really famous and featured in House Beautiful. She shoots it really straight with me....and doesn't add an ounce of sugar on it.

She liked it.

This carved scroll detail is really lovely. However, I could not get passed the fact that it was painted metallic silver.

So, I hunted a bit more and saw this one. I started thinking brass might be the answer....still not sure.

A Craigslist Listing

I decided to design by committee. I sent the altar table listing to this friend for a second opinion. She also shoots it straight, only it is done in the sweetest southern accent....at least that is how I interpret her emails. Do you ever read emails with an accent?

She also liked it. In fact, she sent me this picture for inspiration.

Sold! I traveled really far....over an hour and a half each way. It wasn't the longest distance I traveled for a purchase, this was

The table has a wonderful story behind it. It was purchased by the current owners, a really cool young couple who are in the design business. They also renovate homes themselves. It was moved here from Chicago, their former residence. He told me that their Chicago loft was featured in a magazine. Impressive, yes?

Here is the altar table in my garage. I could not hide this one from my husband.

Here is a close up of the metallic finish

Continuing with the design by committee method.....what do you think? Should I make it rustic like the picture above, or paint it?

I'll Probably Regret This

....but I hope not.

Do any of you remember seeing this fabulous console table that Chinoiserie Chic posted about? I have been stalking Craigslist for anything that would resemble it.

Well, after walking all over my home....I just can't find a spot for it. Trust me, I really tried. I think my husband is secretly happy...but he is acting all, "Oh, are you sure? I know you really liked it?" I can just hear his smirking in his text.

Somebody, please go grab this...fix it up...and come back and tell me all about it!! I will be so jealous happy for you.

It could look like this

I'm a little bummed about it...but I know that the Craigslist fairy will bring me something good real soon. Now I'm off to track down some more stuff that I don't need and can't live without.

If I Lived in Atlanta.....

The other day, Matters of Style did a Craigslist Envy post. It was really cute...all about what she loved on CL from another area. You know I am always talking about how I stalk CL I thought it would be fun to pick a city, and see what CL had in that area.

TODAY is Atlanta..aka Hotlanta!

I spent quite a bit of time in Atlanta in the late 80's early 90's... Before the Underground was built.
Yes, I am probably older than you.

Here are some of the CL finds that I would buy

Ebay & Other Addictions

Hello, I'm Linda...and I am an ebay addict. Remember the last ebay purchase I told you about? And, I still have not decided on what to do with these, either. Well, yesterday, while sitting in my car waiting for school pick-up (the most dangerous time in my day) I used my ebay app (I know, it's just like my CL app) to buy these

24 pieces of vintage white and brass hardware; 16 (the exact amount I need for my nightstands) of the straight ones on the left, 6 of the curved ones and 2 of the huge ones on the right. They are "never used" but from the 70's...hence the plastic wrap. If you look closely, you can see that they are a tad dinged.

As long as I am coming clean, I should tell you that I also have an Etsy app. There, now you know how I spend my time sitting in the car. OK, just one more addiction confession.......I can't stop drinking these

The Dunkin Donuts Men In Black Iced Coffee. What's your addiction?
