One Room Challenge, Week 2

Hello, and welcome back. This is the second week of the One Room Challenge. I am transforming my mudroom into a functional and pretty space. You can start at the beginning, here

This week was all about the wall treatment. I decided to have Joe and Mike fabricate the entire wall while I supervised. Mike doesn't hate me as much as he did before....I think it is because he knows I'm moving.

The top board is a 1 x 6 made of real wood. The remainder of the treatment is MDF. This board was set at a 60" height.

I had the difference split for the next two horizontal rows of 4.5" wide MDF. The bottom piece is wider to keep the same reveal

I decided that a simple board and batten treatment would be best for the mudroom. Deciding on the vertical spacing took a few tries.....yeah, they are sick of me.

Here is the finished treatment. It was no accident that the electrical outlets were not in the way.

Of course each corner was not the same :-/ so I just went with what looked right.

I'll do the prep work and then call in my painter, Vinney, to give it a professional finish. Hopefully that will happen this week. Once the room is painted, I plan on having these hooks installed.

Available here
That's all I have this week, now let's go see what everyone else has accomplished.

Thank you One Room Challenge Sponsors;

And I'll see you back here tomorrow for the Linking Event.

My Best Student.....EVER!

Alright, who stole my week? I was so busy being Mom and getting caught up in my own life....I forgot to blog. Yup, didn't even think about it. That's probably a good thing....you know....balance. So here we are and it's Friday! I'm sure you could use a relaxing weekend, too. Here's some inspiration for you.

I want to introduce you to Meg....my best student....EVER! A few weeks ago, I found

Meg's blog

and saw that she was using

my wall specks

to create this treatment in her living room. Meg and her husband did the entire treatment themselves.

It is amazing how much it looks like my wall.

Here's another view of Meg's room

My entry

Meg emailed me to ask me a few questions, and the next thing I know....BAM.

Her living room is done. To see more of this beautiful room and the "before",

you can go here

. Meg also had some great

tips for priming the boards

.

It was so fun for me to know that I inspired someone to make a change in their own home.

Have a great weekend, friends!

Home Goals

I thought I would take a moment....so that 11 months from now....I could look back and feel great about my attempts, successes, and learning opportunities that my 2012 Home Goals provided. AND, Heeeeeeeeeeeere they are, In no particular order

Finish my dining room. My dining room is the first room you see when you enter my home. I started it years ago, and just lost focus. Recently, I asked your opinion on color combinations for my dining room. Well, come back on January 18th for more on this room! Here is my pinsperation for that room

The all white foyer. I have had this on my mind since last April. In fact, last November, I was still torturing myself dreaming over it! This is the year! Here is my pinspiration for that one

House Beautiful

As long as I am thinking of hallways, I want to make a gallery wall. It would be for the upstairs hallway. I am not as clear on this....so I will continue to stalk scour the net looking for more ideas. This is what I am thinking thus far

Next on the list, my master bedroom....well....it is not the retreat that it should be. Why? Exactly!! Time for that to change. When we did our renovation, we did not put baseboard moldings in two spots....because that is where the built-ins will go, of course. It has been four years and counting! I have not begun to focus on this. I would love images of your favorite bedrooms if you have any to share!

My last for the list, but certainly not my least important...The Potager Garden. It was my very first post, last spring. I have longed to revamp my existing vegetable garden. I was sure that I would have accomplished this last Fall. Well, Mother Nature had other plans. Two inspirational photos for this one

Here are five BIG projects that I intend on attempting in 2012. Of course, there will be endless little projects...that will probably become much BIGGER than expected! Isn't that the life of a serial DIY-er? Did you make a list for just the home? I'd love to know what's on it.
