Nantucket Style - Bethany Brower

It's Monday, and I am happy to start the week with the daughter of my friend, Nancy. I didn't want to hit Nancy up for a post, so I asked Bethany. She has more energy than her mom....Nancy would admit it.  The duo recently created this room for the One Room Challenge

Pretty, don't you think? It's actually on Apartment Therapy in the Room for Color Contest. You can click over to see more of the room and vote for it, if you like.

Hi everyone!  I'm Bethany Brower, daughter-half of Powell Brower Home.  I'm so thankful Linda asked me over to chit chat, because I love everything beachy.  Who doesn't, right?  I have a longstanding love affair with the shores of our great Northeast, so naturally, Nantucket is right up my alley.

When I think of Nantucket, I think cedar shakes, white slipcovers, Dash & Albert rugs and "As Good as it Gets".  But if I had my chance to decorate a beach home for the rich and famous, here's what I'd do.

I wanted to do a not-so literal translation where rich finishes convey the nautical feeling of a ship but with the plush comforts of home. I'd love to cuddle up and chat with friends here.

Back to reality and the increasingly chilly fall weather here in Virginia. But I so enjoyed creating a living room in Nantucket.  Hopefully our next design client has a home on the shore!  Thanks again for letting me daydream, Linda.  <---- Isn't she SO talented?

Pop on by to visit us anytime!

Hi MyCraftyHomeLifers! Nancy here from Powell Brower Home. I hope there are things here you have never seen before. I've been collecting images of the coolest solutions for organizing and DIY project ideas.

There seems to be no end to the creative stuff and how to's you can find on our beloved Pinterest.

Here are some phenomenal ideas that I didn't come up with on my own, but totally love the internet for enlightening me. First of all, the OUTDOOR whiz kid ideas:

1. whitewashing and imprinting a flower pot.

2. Creating order in the tool shed:

4. Optimum lumber storage in the garage:

Now ideas for INTERIOR ORGANIZATION and brilliant use of space:

3. Transfering a graphic to fabric;

I hope this unleashes some creative juices. Thanks, Linda for having me over.

Powell Brower Home is Here...Guest Post

I am so excited to have Nancy & Bethany here from

I created this board for my new blogger friend Linda, who created the One Room Challenge that we are all crazed about! By the way, the final reveal is August 1, so there are only 2 weeks left! She is so busy building, doing carpentry and making over her huge master bedroom, that I thought I'd help her out (if it were only that easy) and do a design board for her room. This is what I envision her room to look like after our many conversations of her dream bedroom.

The idea is to have a neutral palette, blush colored walls, lots of texture and layers, quality built-ins and a huge focal point of a wooden plank ceiling; finishing with pops of mint green and coral. It sounds amazing, and I hope she gets the retreat she deserves! Good luck with the final push Linda!

Thanks Nancy....I will use this beautiful design to help me pull it all together. What do all of you think? Any other suggestions?
