My Future Master Bath

It's Monday, so it must be time for a house update. I am posting the updates whenever I have something to share....and it happens to be Monday...I'm not committing to a schedule.

I spent the weekend obsessing over sconces. I will be having four sconces flanking the two mirrors in my future master bath.

JCA Architects

I know two of the images only have 3 sconces...it's late and I'm tired. I've been looking for a prom dress in-between all of this.

I find the entire subject of a master bath, an interesting one. It is a place for luxury, for sure, but who will actually see it? Other than us? Reminding myself of this, while I shop, helps me keep things in perspective. There will definitely be some splurges in here, but also some cost saving items, too.

Case in point....reasonably priced sconces.

I decided to go with number 3. Hopefully, by the time it arrives, I will have more progress. Here's how the bathroom looks today.

Eight weeks until move in.....ready or not!

Have You Seen My Powder Room?

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and emails about my new (to me) house. I am meeting with the architect this week. My first request is a powder room. There isn't one.

The home has two full baths.....and that's it. It would be great to carve out a little area for a small powder room that my guests could use.

I am staying within the existing footprint of the home. It's the old story, I will need to give up space from one area to gain it in another.

I think a lot can be done with such a little space. Do you have a tiny powder room?

The Pampered Guest

And just like that...

.

I am happy it's Monday! I know that so many of you dislike Mondays, so don't worry, Tuesday will be here before you know it. I have a 'no laundry on Monday' policy and I usually don't cook

very often

on Monday, either. See why I like Mondays? You may borrow that

...

you're welcome!

As I told you, Friday, I loved hearing

Dean Farris

talk about

'The Pampered Guest'

.

Dean recommends the following; using this Givenchy guest room as an example...

Bunny Mellon Guest Room by Givenchy

shows your guests that you care. Reading lamps, scented candles, and additional seating help create a luxurious layered room.

Amanda Nisbet

Blackout shades, fresh flowers, and an extra blanket are details your guests will appreciate.

Frances Herrera

A desk with stationary and a place for a laptop is practical and thoughtful.

Show the sheets! And have them pressed!

The most important question to ask yourself when creating a pampered guest room is, 'How long do you want them to stay?'

I know I would love to stay in a guest room with this much thought. What do you like to do for your guests?

My Master Bath

I thought it would be fun to share some other areas of my home with you. I love my master bath and will miss it. It may be the only room that I would still design exactly the same way.

The floor is a porcelain tile made to look like Carrera marble. There are sea glass square tiles accented throughout the floor. The apron to the tub is Carrera marble cut into subway tiles. The top of the tub is white marble with a green sea glass color running through it.

The tub is a deep soaking tub. You can see that the Carrera tiles are mixed for an interesting pattern in the shower, yet it does not command your attention.

Looking back the other way shows the perfect view of the television from the tub. Go ahead, judge away....every night I soak in the tub while watching some sort of reality tv show. Oh, and I usually have a glass of wine. We definitely lived well in this home.

Custom built-ins were added whenever possible.

Double vanities are definitely helpful for a long and happy marriage :). All the glass and mirrors have a green cast to them that plays off the green in the marble. I wanted the largest mirrors possible to help bounce the natural light around. I designed the three sections and had the sconces cut into the glass to break up the large square and keep it interesting.

This chandelier will move with me.

It will probably be a while before I have a bathroom like this one, again. Do you have a favorite spot in your home where you go to relax?
