Friday's In the Garden.....Ferns

Hello friends! I still can't believe it's August. One more month and Fall gardening will be upon us. Look around your garden because Fall will be the time to transplant most of your perennials. For now, let's focus on Ferns. I love ferns, and if you are not familiar with them...they are perfect for shade gardens.

Ferns are also super easy to divide. Do you have any ferns in your garden?

Friday's In the Garden....Succulents

I don't think we have ever discussed succulents? In simple terms, succulents store water in their leaves and stems and even roots. They do really well outside...especially with the oppressive summer we have had. Depending on the variety, I can find many that will survive a winter in zone 6.

Friday's In The Garden...Bougenvilla's

There are some plants that I definitely took for granted when I lived in a warmer climate. As many of you gardeners know, you just can't grow everything...everywhere. Of all the perennials I miss, I would have to say that Bougenvilla's are on the top of the list.

They grow like weeds in many parts of the country. In fact, my parents took theirs out because they kept getting too big. Here in NJ, you can get them but you would need to overwinter them.....and that is a real pain. I did try for two winters, and it just wasn't happy.

Here are some of the fabulous colors they come in

Friday's In the Garden....Coral

The color coral is everywhere right now. Yes, I am loving it, too. This morning, before the wall of humidity came, I realized that now is the blooming time for Coral Bells.

This is THE easiest plant to have, well....other than hosta's. There are so many varieties and color variations, but there is something about this one, that I just love.

As long as we are designing a garden around a color....let's see what else we can add to it

You know, I love the idea of an outdoor wedding

Friday's in the Garden....pot man

While I am busy fighting working with my less than handy contractor for the One Room Challenge, I thought I would show you "Pot Man".

Unknown
I actually had one of these creations on my front porch in California. Since the clay pots are porous, I would need to overwinter it here, in NJ ....and we know that's not happening.

This one would drive my dog crazy.

If you want to find out how to make one, go here. Have a great weekend!

Friday's In the Garden...You're Benched

Hi Everyone, since I already did a lot of work in my garden this week, I wanted to focus on benches. I love the idea of a garden bench, don't you? From far away, you see it....and it is saying, "come on over".

I have a bench on my front porch,
