How Would You Fix This?
Ok, designers and home design enthusiasts.....here is a home that I actually toured. Let's face it, this room could be amazing. As we went through the home, I kept thinking about this kitchen that opens to a family/great room. A sledge hammer is definitely necessary....but what else? How would you design this space?
Since I won't be buying this home....money is no object. Go for it!
One Room Challenge - My Family Room
Thank you so much for coming here today. This is the final post for the One Room Challenge where I gave my family room a much needed makeover. If you are new to my blog, or want to start at the beginning, you can start here.
I know today is all about the pictures, but before I get to them I just want to thank you for coming by each and every week. Your visits and comments motivated me to finish my room.
I also want to thank these amazing bloggers for pushing themselves and raising the bar.
I have learned so much from their weekly posts and will definitely be borrowing a lot of their design ideas, too.
Tomorrow is the final link up day for even more design inspiration. I have visited every person linking up and continue to be amazed by all the talented bloggers joining in. Believe me, it is worth your time visiting them.
Welcome to my Nantucket/Florida family room located in New Jersey.
The chandelier from my stairwell.
This Beaker Vase is the perfect addition to my mantle. The stand came late last week.
I am more than a little obsessed with the Rejuvenation Brass Magnifying Glass. It has a hand wrapped leather handle. I think I am going to order a few more for Holiday gifts.
I purchased this sweet mini brass tray from My Darling House.
New hardware that you can read about here.
Custom prints form The Pink Pagoda
I owe you a tutorial on the drapes. Look for one next week.

One Room Challenge, Week 1
Welcome to the One Room Challenge (aka #PizzaForDinner). This is a semi-annual event where 20 design oriented bloggers transform a room of their own, from start to finish. For the next six Wednesday's we will be giving you updates on our room progress.
This time, you can play along with us. Starting tomorrow, you can link up your space and finish it over the next six weeks.....just in time for the Holiday's!
Here are the fabulous blogs participating:
Since we are moving to Florida, I wanted to transform a space that would have a big visual impact when we list our home for sale. I also wanted most of my energy and $$$ invested in things that will move with us.
I finally gave away that huge sectional in my living room. My friend's sister lost everything in Hurricane Sandy. The sectional was in fantastic shape and she really wanted it....done!
I heard she makes her kids wash their hands before they sit on it so it will stay nice and clean...love that :).
All of the furniture you are looking at was moved into my living room. It fills that space better than this one. This is a better shot of how the furniture did not fit the space.

Now that you mention it, I did not hang a chandelier, either....we are keeping it real over here.
On the opposite wall sits our biggest argument in this home. My husband, who has nothing to say about anying in this home..... has a lot to say about this dinosaur of a computer. He refuses to have a conversation about getting rid of it. My son is the only one who uses it.
So last week, I found out that it can be made wireless and I will be relocating it to the basement. Visual problem solved.
And now for my plan
This is the direction I am headed.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope you come back next week. If this looks like fun, join us.
Here are the updates from the original post
Now let's go see what the others are working on. Believe it or not, we really don't tell each other much before this starts, so this is a surprise for me too...
Television Addicts, Unite!
I have never been shy or made excuses about my addiction to television. I love binge watching television. I could start a blog on the Bravo shows, alone. In fact, I do many of my projects with the television on as background entertainment. If I'm working in the garage, I usually take the iPad out there.
I know this is a contradiction to my addiction, but I don't like the way a television looks in a room....yes...crazy! I think these are really creative and attractive solutions for incorporating a television into the decor.
Do you hide it or flaunt it?

Vintage Sectional
I am on the Craigslist hunt. After staring at my family room for a few years now, I have decided that the only way we can watch television comfortably is on a sectional sofa. I am not a huge fan of huge furniture. I have a sectional in my living room. It is one of the first major furniture purchases that my husband and I made...almost 20 years ago! Yes, you read that right. It is actually in great shape. However, it is too large and bulky for my current taste. You many notice that my family room is not even on my list of home goals for 2012.
I'm thinking vintage sectional. One that would get reupholstered, of course. I don't plan on doing this upholstery myself. It would probably be more time effective to have a professional tackle it. The only way my family would tolerate an undertaking of that space.....would be the promise of a television (there isn't one in there now). Yeah, everybody wins!
Since I am in the middle of my dining room project for the One Room Challenge, my family room is just a thought. I do have a pinterest board on it, if you care to look, you can go here.
This is what I am on the hunt for
I like the lower back and the fact that the turn is not "a bed". How about this one, already reupholstered
It's $4,000. and I think it is sold. No, I am not looking to spend that. I know I can find it for much less...that's why I love the hunt. This has potential
Still loving the low back.
This could be fantastic. So, my hunt continues. If I can't find it, so be it.....but I am really good at scouring craigslist! Once again, good thing my husband doesn't read my blog! What are you on the hunt for?
