One Room Challenge..the Finale

Hello, and thanks for coming by. This is the final post for this round of the One Room Challenge. You can start at the beginning of the challenge, here.

I want to thank you for coming by each week and leaving your supportive comments. I really appreciate all of your feedback. You don't know it, but you kept me going. I tried to reply back to everyone who was not a "no-reply" blogger. If you wrote about the challenge or read anything about it, I would love it if you sent me the link. I would like to link back to all of those people.

Enough writing, let's get to the pictures.

Remember how it started?

A colorful Turkish rug (post with sources to follow)

 Love this detail.

I went shopping online at The Pink Pagoda for the blue and white ginger jars and the planter. They were delivered in less than a week.

The chandelier is up. I love the round bulbs with the rectangular glass.

The ceilings feel much taller with the simple columns and crown.

Yes, a Craigslist mirror and console table.

Mirror details.

I love the coral pagoda.

And a pop of coral on the inside.

The marble top that I was telling you about.

The paint is BM Ebony King. It is Porch & Floor paint in oil.

My favorite part, this section.

Love the rug.

The lamps after a little bit of spray paint.

The breathtaking fabric designed by Jennifer.

One more rug.

It goes really well with the San Francisco prints.

She wanted to come home with me.

He was not impressed.

I'm off to go see the others and after that I will be spending so much quality time with my kids, they will be begging me to go start another project.

Entry Table Makeover

Things are getting a bit stressful as the final reveal of the One Room Challenge approaches. I still have a few projects to wrap up. I hope to have something to show you on Monday that will take your breath away. I'm hyperventilating just thinking about the pressure.

I managed to give that CL table a makeover.

It started like this.

I gave it a few coats of an espresso gel stain. I don't have a favorite stain, any oil based gel stain works well.

Find the center of the back of the table, and mark it on a piece of painters tape.
Do the same for the center of the wall.

Pre-drill the back of the table

I was prepared to cut off the back legs, but my CL table had removable legs

You can see how red the previous stain was. I didn't use the gel stain on the back legs that were being removed.

Line the table up with the center of the wall.

Once the table is in place, throw a level on it before screwing it into the wall.

I used 3" screws and washers to attach the table to the wall.

Once the table was secure to the wall, I decided to add a touch of gold with a goldleaf paint pen.

I love how it looks under the gold mirror. Now I'm off to work on more projects. What are you working on this weekend?

One Room Challenge, Week 5

Here we are at week 5 already. Wow is time flying by. Thanks again for taking the time to check in with me. If I didn't think you were coming by, I probably would procrastinate more. If you would like to start at the beginning of all of this, you can go here

I am super excited to announce that my trimwork is done. It took a huge chunk of time, and I had help with the hard stuff. Here are all of the specs just in case you want to try this.

All of the trim is BM Snowfall White. The walls were inspired by this bedroom. They are BM White Dove.

I could kiss Mary Ann for tracking down the paint name for me. I want my whole house painted this color.

Section 1 & 3 have the framed wall treatment above the chair rail

In Section 2, the walls were too narrow to frame them above the chair rail. I gave them a mock cap on top to finish them off. I also modified the crown in section 2.

Here, you can see that my CL altar table got a makeover. You can also see that I picked the yellow lamps. Although, weather permitting, they will be changing colors.

I think I am finally going to use this vintage brass light fixture that has been sitting in my garage for ages.

The glass is smoked, and there is a lot of it...not quite sure how I can do this without replacing all of it. I'm not even sure it works....they lady said it did, and I never checked.

I picked up this mirror, that has a gash in the upper right corner.
You just can't get good quality for $15 any more.

Hopefully, I can give it a makeover and place it above this CL table

Once I fix the red tinted stain

There is one more week....and then the big Tah Dah!

Now let's go make the rounds.

One Room Challenge...Week 3

Was it really a full week, already? This is the third post for the One Room Challenge. If you are new to my blog, you can start at the beginning, here

Time is flying, progress is crawling and I have lost the ability to think clearly on this project. Some people may argue that I never had the ability to think clearly. It's a long slow process for my entry. Joe and Mike left last week. They were here for the crown molding, and some of the harder cuts.

This is what went down this week. Did any of you notice this marble wall shelf?

I seem to have forgotten that marble is perfectly straight and sheetrock is not. What am I talking about? Well, when the wall shelf was installed, the bow in the sheetrock was so distracting to me....I had it cut, and slid the marble top into the wall so it would appear flush.

Still confused? This is what the wall looked like when the marble top came off

The bow in the wall was so obvious for a panel treatment, that the center portion of sheetrock was removed...stud shaved down....new stud added....and new sheetrock installed. The majority of this was done by another "Joe". He left the spackling for me, so I could save a bit of money.

At this point, the phrase "save a bit of money" really needs to be changed to "Who else wants a piece of me?"

The answer to that question, would be my electrician, Chad. Remember Chad from my master bedroom project

As the panel detail was going up, I ran into this

An electrical switch in the way. This happened FOUR times. I am happy to report that all four outlets/switches have been moved just a few inches from their current location.

If the Universe is not challenging me enough....I decided to make changes to my own design. At first, I thought it would be interesting to wrap the columns like this

After staring at it for about three days, I HATED it.....and removed it.
This is what it looks like now

I like it this way. You can also see two of the four outlets moved. These pictures were taken after dark, so this is the best it gets.

I'll leave you on a positive note...just look at this return detail that Mike did

I love how it overlaps the backband on the door.

I don't want to jinx myself...but next week must go smoother..wouldn't you think? Now I'm off to see how the others are doing.

Opinions Please

You may remember that I was looking for a vintage Regency piece for my ORC entry?

Well, here she is. I found it on Craigslist...of course. There is a carrera marble top for it that I moved to a safe location. This is where I need your help. I am not sure what color to paint it.

Since the walls will be white, or close to it.....I have an almost unlimited palette to chose from. So I need your help.

Here are some colors that caught my eye.

Do any of these colors speak to you? Any other suggestions?
